After the unprecedented challenges of 2020, our client wanted to recognise and reward their Diamond high-performers with an even more elaborate gala celebration. With an ambitious eight-week timeline and the challenges of working within COVID-safe guidelines, Rebel Playground moved quickly to conceptualise a dazzling event that delivered the right balance of award-night glamour with playful celebration.

From the ground up, we transformed the raw industrial space of the Australian Armoury and Military Museum in Far North Queensland. As we quickly exhausted the availability of production equipment from local suppliers, semi-trailers made the long trek from Brisbane with the additional gear needed to create a fully immersive, tech-driven set that allowed for live video pick-up, dynamic award graphics and outstanding sound quality for our entertainment. Hosted by comedian Claire Hooper, our on-stage line-up included the Gondwana Choir, the brilliant Kate Miller-Heidke and a high-energy close from rising Indigenous rapper J-MILLA.
