When COVID restrictions put a stop to travel and events in 2020, Rebel Playground was tasked with reimagining the delivery of a three-day reward and recognition program originally planned for Fiji. Streaming ‘Live from the Velvet Lounge’, our Best of the Best Awards provided a dazzling and truly memorable experience for 400 award nominees across Australia. All without leaving home.

We created a 90-minute gala awards and variety show hosted by the popular and highly sought-after MC Sylvia Jeffreys. The entertainment line-up featured leading Australian performers, including Amy Shark, Chris Sebastian, beatboxer Tom Thum, magician James Galea, DJ Chad Davis and VJ Adam Bozetto.

The event was streamed from a custom-built studio with a cast and crew of more than 60. We produced the entire event in just nine weeks, including pre-event communications, gift box deliveries for all nominees, and a five-day build, styling and technical set-up of the Velvet Lounge studio.
